In the 1970’s, Luther Ingram released one of his most notable hits, “If Loving You is Wrong, I Don’t Want to be Right!” How powerful of a statement that is to the recipient! Lyrics like these sometimes make you wonder is it possible to love someone whole-heartedly and be wrong for it? Food for thought!

There is a love that should be placed in context. We are all beneficiaries of the fact that God himself chose to be in love with an unbelieving people. Yes, that’s right. US! There are many times where God’s love has shined through moments of faithlessness and mistrust. Just the fact that you are reading this sentence now is evidence that God’s love has overcome our unbelief and lack of faith in Him.

Can you imagine how many times we have failed him? Romans 8:38-39 reminds us that there is NOW no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. The same writer that declares us condemnation-free, shares that nothing can separate us from the love of God… Nothing! Not even we ourselves can run us away from the ever-pursuing love of God.

“God showed us how much he loved us by having Christ die for us, even though we were sinful. (Romans 5:8 CEV).  In other words, why we were still at our worst, God’s love was at his best. We were the unbelievers God chose to love. If loving us was wrong, God would still make it right by his grace and his perfection!
